Even my job, given my particular positions (protecting the President of the United States and other State leaders, responsible for anti-terrorism and nuclear weapons), required an extraordinary fitness level. I remember very strenuous trainings, like the one in the jungle (jungle warfare), in Southeast Asia, or the harsh preparations for combat and survival.

One of my tasks, however, was also being a Physical Training Leader for my units: for years I have prepared training programs and made sure that my men were strong, fast, but, above all, healthy.

ONE OF MY MANY “BEFORE/AFTER”

You might be thinking that I might not relate to you since I have always been in shape. Well, there have been times in my career in which my fitness took a back seat: I had injuries, I had to travel and move around the globe (I have moved 27 times in the past 15 years, in 4 continents) and I have been a single parent. During those times my diet was not the best and I allowed myself to gain weight. Yet, I never allowed it to define who I am or was as a person.
